Excellent post (as always). I guess being a little bit older than the average wannabe has it’s advantages, as I really see no point in changing my looks or dress into something that makes me someone I’m not. One of the talent shows here in NL (I think it was “Popstars” but could also have been Idols or X-factor, totally broke down one of the contestants a couple of years ago. She had one of the most stunning voices I ever heard, but didn’t fit the picture so to say (tongue in cheek) as she was pretty “big”. The comments she took were no longer about her singing, but about her looks, over and over again and pretty harsh, if not rude. That sucked. And take Susan Boyle, don’t think that needs further explanation.

For me music is just a way of expressing my feelings, my thoughts.

every morning I wake up with the same questions : ” Who am I ??? … and if so ; with how many ” . And in my recollections of a multiple personality ; sometimes I think I’m a jazz guitarist … and maybe the next day I think I’m a trance producer . I have absolutely nothing to do with any consumer or “music lover” … I simply PLAY … and when I’ve pushed the recording button ; there is some waste left over from the moment I PLAYED . I’m not even sure that the recordings have anything to do with what I thought or felt on the moment I played it .
LOLOL , and I’m absolutely sure that I’m not capeble to do the music I love most … not only technical , I simply don’t have that totaly amazing “melody in a melody” insight/instinct* that people like Ralph Towner , John Abercrombie , Pat Metheny , etc. etc. have … that’s why I love to listen to them so much .
O … and I’m not so sure if there is any big goal I wanna reach … I love to wander ‘roud , and get lost in many many little goals … like playing a new frigging chord or phrase out of nowhere … try new mistakes , etc. etc. .
All together ; another nice reading … it brought me quite some hows , whys and dunnos
